Grinding steel balls and bearing steel balls are critical consumables for mining, cement and power industries. Most manufacturers adopting separated, non-linked equipment face recurring quality instability and high operating costs. Traditional workflows scatter billet heating, skew rolling, quenching, tempering and inspection on isolated machines. Manual transfer causes temperature drop, inconsistent timing and frequent quality fluctuations. Forever Electromechanical’s new full-process steel ball production line integrates every step from raw billet feeding to finished ball sorting, adopting intelligent IGBT induction heating as the core to deliver an all-in-one solution for these long-standing bottlenecks. The line supports B2, B3, 65Mn and GCr15 materials, covering both wear-resistant grinding balls and precision bearing balls.

Many steel ball factories struggle with four typical defects. First, gas furnace or old SCR heating creates large temperature gradients inside billets, triggering internal cracks, surface decarburization and heavy oxide scale after rolling. Second, asynchronous processes break the thermal chain: hot billets cool down during manual transport, leading to poor roundness and uneven forming. Third, independent heat treatment stations cannot match rolling rhythm; uncontrolled quenching stress easily produces microcracks that cause premature failure in service. Fourth, scattered equipment needs many operators, with low output, high power consumption and unstable batch hardness. These issues push up scrap rates and make it hard to satisfy overseas buyers’ strict metallurgical standards.
Forever’s solution centers on modular medium frequency IGBT heating power supply supplies customized for steel ball rolling. Multi-section coils achieve uniform through-heating of billets, with infrared sensors and PLC closed-loop control keeping temperature tolerance within a narrow range. Fast, controllable eddy current heating reduces oxidation and decarburization dramatically compared with flame furnaces. The power unit responds instantly to adjust output according to billet size, feed speed and steel grade. No long preheating cycle is required, and harmonic interference is suppressed to protect the factory power grid. This stable heat source lays the prerequisite for consistent rolling quality and lowers the risk of crack initiation.

The whole line realizes seamless linkage: billet feeding → fixed-length cutting → induction heating → skew rolling forming → online quenching → continuous tempering → cooling → hardness testing and sorting. Conveying speed synchronizes heating, rolling and heat treatment automatically, so hot formed balls enter the quenching zone at the ideal temperature without waiting or cooling. The spray quenching system adjusts water pressure and flow dynamically; the follow-up induction tempering releases internal thermal stress steadily. Process recipes can be saved and recalled for different ball diameters. Operators monitor all parameters on one touchscreen, reducing human error and cutting labor demand significantly.
Controlled heating and synchronized heat treatment greatly reduce cracking, ovality and hardness deviation. Finished steel balls gain uniform microstructure and stable impact resistance, extending service life in grinding applications. Induction heating only heats the workpiece instead of the whole furnace chamber, cutting unit power consumption notably and meeting low-carbon manufacturing requirements. Forever Electromechanical provides flexible layout design. Customers can select standalone heating modules or the full turnkey line according to workshop space and hourly capacity. Remote diagnosis and fault alarm functions simplify maintenance for overseas users.
This integrated automatic steel ball production line targets markets including Southeast Asia, Russia, the Middle East and Africa, where mining and mineral processing demand reliable grinding media. Forever Electromechanical delivers process simulation, equipment manufacturing, on-site commissioning, operator training and long-term spare parts supply. Its R&D team keeps optimizing coil structure and heating curves to suppress steel ball center cracking and improve forming consistency.

As downstream industries raise standards for steel ball wear resistance and batch stability, discrete traditional production modes gradually lose competitiveness. Forever Electromechanical’s complete steel ball production line, running from billet to finished ball, solves the pain points of poor temperature control, disconnected procedures and unstable heat treatment. Combining mature IGBT induction technology and full-line automation, it helps steel ball manufacturers raise qualification rates, cut energy and labor cost, and strengthen product competitiveness in the global grinding media market.
