Forged steel balls are critical grinding media widely used in mineral processing, cement plants and thermal power ball mills. Their wear resistance, impact toughness and roundness directly decide mill efficiency and operating cost. Traditional gas-fired or coal-fired furnaces for billet preheating suffer from obvious drawbacks: uneven heating between core and surface, heavy oxide scale, high fuel consumption and unstable forging quality. When the billet temperature fluctuates, manufacturers often face cracking, out-of-roundness and high rejection rate. Long heating duration also leads to coarse grain structure, shortening the final service life of grinding balls. To solve these persistent pain points, Forever Electromechanical launches the forged steel ball induction heating machine, a dedicated preheating system built on mature IGBT medium-frequency induction technology for continuous billet heating before forging.

This induction hardening system adopts electromagnetic eddy current heating, generating heat inside the steel billet instead of relying on external heat radiation. The whole workflow includes automatic feeding, centering conveying, segmented induction preheating, multi-point temperature monitoring and discharging to the forging press. Servo roller feeders deliver round billets at adjustable constant speed. Water-cooled induction coils are designed in multi-zone temperature sections to realize staged heating: low-temperature preheating, rapid temperature rising and temperature homogenization. Infrared pyrometers track real-time temperature and send feedback signals to the IGBT power source, which dynamically adjusts output power to keep billet temperature within the target range of 1000℃–1200℃. The PLC touch screen stores multiple process recipes for different ball diameters and steel grades. Operators can switch parameters quickly for carbon steel, alloy steel and high-chromium steel ball production. All heating records are automatically saved for quality tracking.

Compared with gas furnaces, this induction preheating equipment shows outstanding advantages. It achieves through-heating with tiny temperature difference between surface and core, eliminating the common “hot skin, cold core” issue. Uniform plasticity helps metal flow steadily during forging, reducing cracking and elliptical deformation. Fast heating shortens high-temperature exposure time, greatly suppressing oxide scale and decarburization. Less scale loss cuts raw material waste and protects forging dies from abrasive wear, extending die service life. The IGBT power unit features high power factor and low no-load loss, consuming power only during heating. It delivers remarkable energy savings, usually 30%–40% lower energy cost than traditional combustion furnaces. Besides, flameless heating creates a clean workshop without smoke or exhaust, complying with global low-carbon and environmental protection requirements. It can start and stop instantly, with no need for long preheating standby, saving idle energy waste.
Forever Electromechanical supports flexible customization according to customer output and ball specifications. The coil size, power grade and conveying speed can be adjusted for forged balls ranging from small diameters to large heavy-duty grinding balls. The machine can run independently or connect seamlessly with cutting, forging and heat treatment stations to build a fully continuous production line. Key components adopt standardized spare parts for convenient maintenance, lowering downtime for overseas grinding ball manufacturers. It adapts well both to small-batch trial runs and high-volume mass production. Simple operation reduces reliance on experienced furnace workers and stabilizes daily output.

This induction preheating machine targets grinding ball manufacturers, mineral consumable factories and steel forging enterprises. As mining and cement industries push for lower consumption and longer service life of grinding media, stable preheating becomes more essential for forged steel ball quality. Drawing on rich experience in billet, bar and pipe induction heating lines, Forever Electromechanical supplies complete equipment, process tuning and long-term after-sales technical support. This energy-saving preheating solution helps producers balance output, product consistency and energy expenditure, becoming a reliable upgrade option replacing outdated combustion furnaces for forged steel ball production worldwide.
