The integrated line covers raw material feeding, induction heating, skew rolling forming, online heat treatment, automatic sorting and finished packaging. Below is the complete working flow of this automatic grinding ball manufacturing system.

The screw rolling steel ball production process starts with raw material screening. High-quality alloy steel round bars are selected as blanks. Operators first verify chemical composition, surface condition and dimensional accuracy to eliminate defective steel bars. Qualified bars are transported to the automatic feeding rack. The servo feeding device sends steel bars into the production line at stable, adjustable speed, matching the rhythm of subsequent heating and rolling stations. This automated feeding avoids uneven manual feeding and guarantees continuous and stable production rhythm.
Induction heating is the core pre-forming section independently designed by Forever Electromechanical. The round bars enter the medium-frequency induction furnace and are rapidly and evenly heated to the target rolling temperature. Compared with traditional gas furnaces, the induction heating system features fast temperature rise, high thermal efficiency and precise temperature control within ±5℃. Uniform heating ensures consistent metal microstructure inside the steel blank, preventing local overheating or underheating. Stable temperature lays a solid foundation for smooth rolling and uniform spherical shape of grinding balls.

After heating, hot steel blanks are immediately delivered to the skew rolling mill. The paired spiral rollers rotate synchronously, squeezing and rolling the red-hot blank continuously to form standard spherical grinding balls. The rolling mill can adjust roller clearance according to customer requirements to produce grinding balls of different diameters. During rolling, flash and excess material are automatically separated. The formed balls are transported by high-temperature resistant conveyors to the next station without manual handling, reducing safety risks and surface contamination.
Heat treatment determines the wear resistance and impact toughness of finished grinding balls, which is the most critical link in the whole line. Newly rolled hot balls go straight into the online quenching system for rapid cooling to obtain high surface hardness. Then the balls enter the tempering furnace for low-temperature tempering. This procedure releases internal quenching stress, avoids cracking, and balances hardness and toughness. Forever’s integrated heat treatment module can adjust quenching medium flow and tempering temperature according to ball specifications, so finished balls maintain stable HRC hardness and low breakage rate in grinding operation.
After heat treatment and natural cooling, grinding balls enter the automatic sorting station. The line automatically screens balls by diameter, roundness and surface defects. Unqualified products are automatically rejected. Qualified balls go through shot blasting cleaning to remove oxide scale and burrs on the surface. Random sampling inspection is conducted on hardness, impact resistance and metallographic structure. All test data is recorded and stored in the system for product traceability.

Qualified grinding balls are sent to the automatic packaging station. The steel ball production equipment weighs balls quantitatively and packs them into ton bags or woven bags as requested. Packaged products are marked with specifications, batch numbers and inspection reports, then transported to finished product warehouse for storage and shipment. The whole production flow from steel bar input to packaged finished balls is finished on one continuous line.
