Billet Induction Heating & Preheating Production Line Put into Operation

Forever Electromechanical’s newly delivered billet induction heating and preheating production line has been officially commissioned and put into full operation at a metal forging and rolling enterprise. Built for continuous billet preheating before hot forging and rolling, this intelligent induction line replaces traditional fuel heating equipment, helping the customer achieve precise temperature control, energy saving and low-oxidation billet processing. It marks another successful delivery of Forever’s medium-frequency induction heating system for metal thermal processing.

Project Background: Upgrading Outdated Heating Processes

The customer mainly supplies steel billets for hot forging, bar rolling and mechanical part forming. Its original gas-fired heating furnaces had obvious drawbacks: slow heating speed, uneven temperature distribution, heavy surface oxidation and thick scale. Large temperature differences between billet surface and core caused unstable forming quality, high material loss and excessive energy bills. In addition, flue gas treatment brought continuous environmental management pressure. To lift product consistency and cut operating costs, the customer decided to adopt induction heating technology and selected Forever as the equipment supplier.

Customized Continuous Heating Design for Multi-specification Billets

Forever’s engineering team customized the heating curve, coil structure and conveying speed according to the customer’s billet sizes, steel grades and target forging temperature. The whole line covers automatic loading, material sorting, segmented induction preheating, temperature real-time monitoring and roller discharging. It supports round and square billets of carbon steel, alloy steel and structural steel. The closed-loop temperature control system automatically adjusts power output to keep billet temperature uniform, laying a solid foundation for subsequent forging or rolling.

Low Oxidation & High Thermal Efficiency Core Advantages

Different from flame heating, electromagnetic induction heats the billet from inside out rapidly. The heating cycle is greatly shortened, which effectively reduces oxidation, decarburization and burning loss. Less oxide scale means lower material waste and lighter cleaning workload after forming. The medium-frequency power supply features high power factor, so the overall power consumption is much lower than gas furnaces. Without open flame combustion, the line produces nearly no exhaust emissions, making it easier to meet local environmental standards.

PLC Intelligent Control and Stable Continuous Operation

The steel billet induction heating process adopts centralized PLC control with touchscreen operation. Operators can store, recall and switch multiple heating recipes for different billet materials. Temperature records, running status and fault alarms are displayed on the interface. The servo feeding mechanism ensures stable feeding pitch and avoids material piling or deviation. During commissioning, the line passed long-duration continuous running tests. Temperature repeatability and billet heating uniformity both meet the customer’s technical acceptance indicators.

On-site Commissioning and After-sales Technical Support

Forever’s service engineers stayed on site for equipment installation, wiring, cold test and hot commissioning. They trained local operators on parameter setting, daily inspection and simple troubleshooting. Remote online support is available for later maintenance and process optimization. With reliable after-sales guarantee, the customer can steadily run the line and reach the designed hourly output.
